The Commitment is the final installment in a gripping series of 6 novels about a pediatric heart surgeon who wants to once again have the patient become the center of the medical experience. We have become used to insurance companies and big pharma calling the treatment shots, and this series explores another way of caring for patients. The books are filled with medical scenarios, but also deal with the surgeon’s family life and helping his son follow his dream of also becoming a pediatric heart surgeon. The son truly comes into focus in the final installment (The Commitment) and the decisions are spectacular. The books are well-written and tell a wonderful story of people who are fed up with many things in our current health care system, and offer an answer that is very much outside the box but also very right.

Sewell, M.D., is a moving and satisfying ending to an exceptional medical saga.It centers on pediatric heart surgeon Dr. Jack Roberts and his son who he mentors through out this series. Jack watches his dream realized for a patient-centered hospital in Nicaragua. He also watches his son carry the torch and legacy in this final installment. It pulls you into the story and stays with you after the last page is read. Highly recommended for anyone who loves character-driven dramas with real emotional depth!

I have read and enjoyed every book in this series. This final book, A Surgeons Heart: The Commitment was the most captivating for me. I started & finished it within a week! There was some medical terminology that I didn’t understand but as I read on, it was explained in a way that made sense. I felt as if I knew all the characters & the ups & downs they went through were believable. Great story, great series & great writing!

I read the entire series and this one really did bring it all together. The characters are totally believable in every way, across the entire series. I read a great deal and this series is right up at the top. Yes, Dr Sewell, I know where David stands in the epilogue. But it seems there might be an opening for more, particularly considering their 4 offspring. ???? Outstanding work!!!
